MY PHILOSOPHY ON GIFTED EDUCATION
My philosophy on education is centered around the needs of the students within my classroom. I try my best to make my classroom and instruction as student-centered as possible. I have always made sure that my classroom is a safe environment for students to think learn and grow on their own as I act a facilitator in the classroom. This is possible through my plan to build strong relationships and connections with the students in order to understand them enough to help serve them best. I believe that all students deserve this type of treatment from their teachers and as a result I would like to highlight and make sure that I am meeting the needs of your gifted student. In my opinion, gifted students have special needs and deserve special support within the classroom due to their heightened capabilities in a variety of subjects and areas that are much different than students in a general education classroom. They should be challenged as well as interested in the topics presented to them in class through inquiry and problem solving, higher order thinking, and technology usage. Within the category of gifted students there are variations of gifted students and I base my instruction by which each type of gifted student: critically gifted, artistically gifted, mathematically gifted and creatively gifted, can be properly challenged and served.
